The morning I brought in our Ugger Bug to get spayed I wanted to take a gander on her brother. A bit of a background on him (and why he is still at the SPCA). We brought the three kittens in at the same time. Just originally wanted the orange one but once we found out it was a male, we decided we wanted our Uggs. But they had to be in quarantine and get nursed back to health by the staff. Uggs was the stronger of the 3. Unfortunately, one of the kittens didn't make it, leaving Uggs and her brother, who they named Davinci. He was having a bit of a difficult time making it through and they recommended to keep Uggs in there with him to help him pull through a bit. We took Uggers home when Davinici started to get a little better. He later developed ringworm, meaning quarantine for another 6 weeks. Then, once he was better they put him in a kitten room where he contracted ringworm once again. Back to quarantine for 6 weeks. Finally he was a free man and went into the adoption space. The SPCA staff and many others fell in love with Davinci we were told. Fie applications were filed for people to take hm home but they wanted to make sure he went to the PERFECT home. He was too awesome to go to just anyone, they said. So I wanted to just take a gander for myself after I had brought Uggs in. He was pretty amazing. SO lovable!
Obviously later that evening we found out our Uggs had passed away. Friday, somehow hoping to curb our pain, Josh wanted to just take a look at Davinci, to see what he had grown up to and such. We thought being out would take our minds off things as well. It was so hard to even be in the house . As soon as just and Davinci met, Davinci rubbed his face on Josh's face and neck, a quality Uggs did quite often. If we would have closed our eyes and had Davinci on our lap, we would have sworn it was Uggs. While we thought we could not even begin to fathom having another cat (none could be as awesome as Uggs), Josh wanted to begin thinking of the possibility of taking Davinci. We couldn't help but begin to think the oddest of things. Does everything really happen for a reason? Why were they holding off on the perfect family for so long? Ringworm and isolation TWICE? We couldn't help but think if this was somehow Uggs taking care of her brother. Giving him her family that she knew would be perfect? It was too quick after her passing to even begin thinking but that was her blood; the brother she helped nurse back to health.
After having a week to think about it and hearing test results on Davinci (they tested for the same blood condition; he is healthy), we decided we were going to take Ugger Bug's brother Davinci. We brought him home hoping he would be the lovable, awesome cat he was in the cat room. He is amazing! What a lovebug!!! As I said before, if we close our eyes it's almost like Uggs is right there! He is just like her.
Welcome to our family, Davinci!

My two favorite boys
